A Superhero Named Kol

Hey everyone reading this. This is Julianna and Mari, Kol's big sisters. Tonight Kol told mom he was feeling like a 'small, tiny, mite', and that he wanted to be a superhero. We're going to show him that he is a superhero! Contact us or Mom/Dad however you want, or leave a comment below, and let us know why you think he's a superhero. We'll put all your responses, and any bible verses you want us to, into a slide show and surprise him. You can choose whether you want your name in it, or if you want to be anonymous. This is a surprise for Kol, so we would appreciate it if no one told him anything about it!

  1. Why Kolbjorn is a superhero....
    - He had strength to pray at the healing service although he was really not feeling good
    - He loves star wars, and that is one of the awesome things about being a guy, is that you like manly things
    - There is no other kid like him; he is fearfully and wonderfully made in the eyes of the Lord (Ps. 139:14)
    - HUNDREDS of people love him, and he has the opportunity to see that at this young of an age where many people don't have the privilege of physically knowing it
    - He is fighting this cancer, not giving up

    ... Kol ain't a tiny mite :)

  3. Julianna and Mari,
You girls are such sweet sisters! Kol is lucky to have you both! Thank you for being so thoughtful and working hard to show Kol how special he is. I emailed my thoughts on why Kol is a superhero to your mom, so you can get them from her.
    Love you guys!

  4. Kol you are a superhero because God is fighting for you just like he fought for his people in Exodus. In Exodus 14:14 Moses says:The Lord will fight for you and you have only to keep still.

  5. Dear Kol,

We think you are brave and strong like a Superhero. It must be scary doing everything you had to do to fight your cancer but you do it anyway because you are brave.

You are brave it must hurt a lot but you endure it, that makes you strong.

We think you are just like a Superhero because when you get a chance, you play with us just like you never got a tumour. You are the best Superhero and you play Cops and Robbers really good too!

We are praying for you and we hope you start to feel like a Superhero again.

Love, Thomas and Leah (and the rest of us Bratvolds too!!)

  6. Kol,
You don't even know me and yet you have totally affected my life. I read the blog and pray for you and your family. I admire your courage and strength - EVEN when you don't feel like being brave or strong.

In my mind - that makes YOU A SUPER HERO cause tiny mites would NEVER be able to do that!

  7. We are participating in Relay for Life on Fri June 1st in Lanigan....our team name is THE SUPERHEROES!!!! We all have our reasons for participating in RFL but we would love to add Kol to those reasons. I have talked to the team and we'd love to Relay this year in honor of Kol's battle with cancer....we all wear SuperHero shirts or costumes, etc...We'd also love to share some of the blog at the Relay event if that's OK with your family.

" a true hero's strength is not measured by the size of his strength....but by the strength of his HEART" ~ Disney's Hercules

....and we're sure Kol has a big, big heart!!!

  9. Kol;
You don't know me but I'm Tori Skelton's Nana and you are my superhero. You are so brave and have so much love in your heart and that is what a superhero is. You are fighting an evil villian everyday called cancer and you are helping so many people who see you as an inspiration. You are not a tiny "mite" you are a superhero, a brave young man with a beautiful big heart and inspiration for each of us. My donation to Relay for Life this year will be made in the name of my "Superhero Kol". God bless you Superhero Kol.

The definition of a hero sounds like this: a hero is a person who does great things in his life. "A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life".

Heroes are referred to men or women that knew how to face risks and hardships in their lives and knew the most important ingredient: God's presence with them as they were accomplishing God's plans.

Kol....you are one of God's SUPER HEROES! I know your fight is so very hard for you, BUT, Our prayers are ever present....We lift you up before our God! Lord Jesus, be with Kol, let him feel Your presence, Keep him safe and relieve his pain. Hold him in Your arms. We ask this in Your Name, AMEN!

  12. Yes, Kol is a superhero!
His story reminds me of the story of David and Goliath.
Kol = David, and cancer = Goliath.
Kol is not a mite. But rather mighty like David, when he fought the battle with Goliath. Remember Kol, with Jesus at your side you will have the courage and strength to win any battle!

  13. Aloha Kol,

You are a superhero because your spirit burns bright. Your mite is your strength!

    2 Corinthians 12:9-10

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

    Joke Time:

For weeks, a six-year old lad kept telling his first-grade teacher about the baby brother or sister that was expected at his house. One day the mother allowed the boy to feel the movements of the unborn child. The six-year old was obviously impressed, but made no comment. Furthermore, he stopped telling his teacher about the impending event. The teacher finally sat the boy on her lap and said,
"Tommy, whatever has become of that baby brother or sister you were expecting at home?"
Tommy burst into tears and confessed, "I think Mommy ate it!"

Keep smiling! You are mighty and brave and a superhero to so many!

    Love,

  14. Kol, You have always reminded me of a superhero. The strong silent type, doing whatever needed to be done without complaint. Keep fighting Kol. You are not alone.
